LUCKNOW: PM Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a blistering attack on Congress, a day after a video clip of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi exhorting all “Punjabis” to get together to “oust those from UP, Bihar and Delhi” went viral.
” Inke mukhyamantri ne UP ka apmaan kiya to Gandhi Parivaar taliyan bajata raha … (Their CM insulted UP and Gandhi family stood clapping),” Modi said, while addressing an election rally in Fatehpur. The clip showed that when Channi made the remark during a rally in Ropar on Tuesday, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stood smiling.
“Their hate for UP is because you have completely ousted them from here,” Modi said. “The same people are now seeking votes from UP. You need to be aware of these people,” he said. Modi’s admonishment came amid Channi issuing a video statement clarifying that he only meant “people like Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh and Arvind Kejriwal (Aam Aadmi Party leaders) who come from outside and cause disruptions”.
