A fire was reported at a laboratory on the premises of SSPMS College located adjacent to the Regional Transport Office near the Sangam Bridge in Pune on Friday afternoon.
The Pune Fire Brigade’s control room received a call regarding the fire around 2 pm. Soon, a team with a fire tender and water tanker reached the spot. Officials said the fire was at the laboratory of the pharmacy department on the college building’s second floor.
The fire was doused in a few minutes and a cooling operation was carried out. No casualties were reported in the incident, but a refrigerator, computers, some documents and other materials inside the laboratory were gutted.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, said a fire brigade officer.
