FIR booked after outfit puts up banners carrying gangster’s photographs in Pune

An offence was lodged against members of the ‘Nileshbhau Ghaiwal Youth Foundation’ and two others for allegedly putting up banners carrying photographs of dreaded gangster Nilesh Ghaiwal on a road in the jurisdiction of Hinjewadi police station.

Nilesh Gholap, an officer at the Kothrud–Bavdhan Ward office of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) filed the first information report (FIR) at the Hinjewadi police station.

A press statement issued Friday said the police and the PMC teams removed the illegal banners carrying Ghaiwal’s photographs. The police booked a case under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act for putting up the banners without permission.
