The power adapter for a popular baby sound machine is┬аbeing recalled due to an electrical hazard.┬а
Health Canada posted a┬аrecall notice┬аthis week for the adapter, included with some Hatch Baby Rest 1st Generation sound machines.
The recall involves all adapters with the model number CYAP05 050100U, which can be checked by looking at the number printed in black near the prongs of the adapter.
Health Canada said all users should immediately stop using the adapter and contact the company directly for a replacement.┬а
In a notice posted on its website,┬аHatch Baby Inc. stated that it issued the recall voluntarily after learning┬аthe┬аplastic housing of the adapter could become detached when unplugged, exposing the prongs and posing a shock risk.┬а
The company said that the recall affects only the adapter and not the device. Once the adapter has been replaced, the product is safe to use, according to the notice on its site.
The Health Canada recall notice stated┬аthat as of July 3, there have been no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
In the United States, there have been 19 reports of the AC adapter detaching and two┬аreports of minor electrical shock.┬а
Health Canada states that 44,352 units of the product have been sold in Canada, and that the affected products were on the market from October 2020 to July 2023.┬а
