Multiple media outlets reported temperature breached the 38 degrees Celsius mark ahead of Inter Miami’s game in Dallas. Some social media users even claimed that the extreme weather conditions may have resulted in fans’ angry reactions. The high temperatures even forced both Inter Miami and FC Dallas to take a heat break near the halfway point in both the halves.

Messi’s fourth Inter Miami game witnessed a kickoff temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on the 14th consecutive day of extreme heat in Dallas. Coming back to on-field developments, Lionel Messi needed just six minutes to score the opening goal of the Leagues Cup round of 16 game against FC Dallas. This also marked his first goal outside of Florida since signing for Inter Miami earlier this summer. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner scored off another stunning free kick late in the game to earn an equalizer. Inter Miami eventually went on to win the game 5-3 on penalties to qualify for the quarter-finals. The game against FC Dallas was the third of Messi’s three consecutive two-goal games in Inter Miami jersey.

“We are very glad to be moving on and these types of games help us to continue to develop as a team and fix our mistakes. We still have a long way to go to be at the level we want but in the end, I am glad that we obtained the victory,” Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino said through an interpreter.

Before the game, FC Dallas owner Dan Hunt had lauded Messi for showcasing his astonishing form in America. Hunt said that witnessing Messi’s performance was akin to ‘watching Michael Jordan.’ “You’re looking at one of the two greatest players of all time in that experience. So yeah, this is a great moment for FC Dallas,” Hunt told Bloomberg ahead of his side’s game against Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi has so far netted seven goals having made four appearances for Inter Miami. The World Cup-winning Argentine skipper has managed to score in all four matches for the MLS side.
