Family of 18 order 40 chicken nuggets and mountain of burgers as takeaway birthday treat – World News
For most families, takeaway night usually involves a table laid out with a few cartons of curry or a pizza to share.
But when the Bonell family orders in, it’s more like a truck-load of meals fighting for space in the dining room.
Australia’s biggest family recently treated themselves to some fast food on a Friday night – and the mountain of burgers and chips they got through was staggering.
With eighteen family members to feed including themselves, Jeni and Ray Bonell, from Queensland, ordered eight beef Whoppers, eight cheeseburgers, 40 chicken nuggets, 16 portions of fries and 16 soft drinks from fast food restaurant Hungry Jacks.
Jeni, who shares 16 children with her husband Ray, posted a picture of her ten-year-old son Damian looking delighted with the haul on their Instagram page.
The Bonell’s children range from, in age from six to 31-years-old, and their food shop usually adds up to around £250 a week, reports The Sun.
But last Friday the family broke with tradition and ordered a huge takeaway as a treat to celebrate son Damian’s tenth birthday.
Mum Jeni, 51, who has seven daughters, ordered four large family bundle meals costing £72.
“And just like that another kid has a birthday, and leaves us with just one child in the single digit age range now,” she captioned her Instagram post.
“Mummy is definitely feeling all the feels about all her babies growing up.
“Loving just the little bit of takeaway for his birthday dinner.”
She punctuated her post with the hashtag “feeding a crowd”.
The Bonells have nothing on Britain’s biggest family the Radfords.
Daughter Millie Radford provided an insight into their lives recently during their new access-all-areas TV show, revealing how they spend £400 on food shops and use 16 pints of milk a day.
Sue and Noel Radford have 22 children together and the Morecambe-based couple, who don’t rely on benefits, spend an estimated £30,000 a year bringing them up, including birthday and Christmas gifts.
