EXCLUSIVE: Sajid Samji signed by Zee Studios, Viacom18 and Sony Pictures for his directorial ventures : Bollywood News
The writer jodi of Sajid-Farhad collaborated on several successful films like Golmaal series, All┬аThe┬аBest┬а(2009),┬аSingham┬а(2011),┬аHousefull 2┬а(2012),┬аBol Bachchan┬а(2012),┬аChennai Express┬а(2013),┬аGolmaal Again┬а(2017),┬аSimmba┬а(2018) etc. After a point, they graduated to making films and delivered┬аEntertainment┬а(2014) and┬аHousefull 3┬а(2016). Unfortunately for their fans, both split after┬аSimmba. Farhad Samji then began to work independently. He directed┬аHousefull 4┬а(2019) and is busy completing┬аBachchan Pandey. HeтАЩll then start work on Salman Khan-starrer┬аKabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. He also wrote films like┬аStreet Dancer (2020),┬аLaxmii┬а(2020),┬аCoolie No 1┬а(2020) and has also penned upcoming movies like Sooryavanshi and┬аBhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
When┬аBollywood Hungama┬аspoke exclusively to Sajid Samji last week during the 10th anniversary of┬аSingham, he revealed about his upcoming projects. He said, тАЬDuring Sooryavanshi, I was trying to start my film. ThatтАЩs why I didnтАЩt get involved in the writing of┬аSooryavanshi.тАЭ
He then stated, тАЬI have been signed by 3 production houses тАУ Zee Studios, Viacom18 Studios and Sony Pictures. But as they say,┬аmulle ki daud masjid tak. Similarly, director┬аki daud actor tak. ItтАЩs also a struggle. The production houses canтАЩt get actors for you. ItтАЩs the director and his script thatтАЩll attract the actors. So I was about to find actors but then the pandemic happened. The actors got busy completing their pending films. Until their backlog is not cleared, how will they start my film? Nevertheless, the scripts of all three films are locked and we have begun work. Hopefully, when things normalize, IтАЩll make the films.тАЭ
So will these films be in the masala genre, which has been his USP? To which he said, тАЬKahan aur kuch dusra aata hai? But for Zee, I am directing a romcom. ItтАЩll be different and was a challenge for me as well, as a writer. It is an emotional film.┬аHasaate hasaate rula degi woh┬аfilm. It is still on the scripting stage though.тАЭ
