Emraan Hashmi Announces Sequel To His 2007 Release; Fans Call It, ‘Best Birthday Surprise’

Emraan Hashmi celebrates his 46th birthday today (March 24), and on his special day, he has given his fans a surprise. The actor has announced Awarapan 2, a sequel to his 2007 release. The movie, which also starred Shriya Saran and Mrinalini Sharma, was a flop at the box office, but over the years it has received a cult status and the songs of Awarapan are still loved by the audiences.

The actor took to social media to announce the sequel which will release in April next year. He shared, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.”

Emraan shared a video which has a few scenes of Awarapan and at the end it shows that his character wakes up. So, for the uninitiated, the actor’s character Shivam dies at the end of Awarapan, and this makes us wonder whether he will be shown alive and the sequel will be taken forward. However, it is not yet revealed whether the story will be a continuation or Awarapan 2 will be a spiritual sequel to the first part.

Interestingly, just last year, Emraan and Shriya were seen together in the series Showtime which was streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. While they were not paired opposite each other, the two had many scenes together and fans were quite happy to see them in the show.

Awarapan 2 female lead?

Well, Emraan will be seen as the male lead in Awarapan 2, but the makers have not yet announced the name of the female lead. So, will Shriya Saran return to sequel? Let’s wait and watch!

A few days ago, there was a buzz that Awarapan might re-release in theatres. Even Emraan had hinted about it with cryptic post. But, that post was a pre-announcement of Awarapan 2.

Emraan Hashmi’s Upcoming Movies

Meanwhile, Emraan is gearing up for the release of his movie Ground Zero which is slated to release in April this year. The teaser of the film will be attached with Salman Khan starrer Sikandar.
