Bengaluru, October 9: In a troubling case from Bengaluru, a 40-year-old divorced man was duped of INR 21 lakh in a sophisticated forex trading scam after connecting with a woman on the dating app “Ur My Type.” The victim, who sought companionship following his recent divorce, was lured into the scam through a series of manipulative conversations with a user claiming to be interested in a romantic relationship. As the scam unfolded, the victim found himself cut off from the alleged perpetrator, realising too late that he had fallen prey to a fraudulent scheme.

The case came to light when the victim reported the incident to the East CEN crime police, prompting an investigation into the fraudulent scheme. According to a report by the Times of India, the victim began his correspondence with Mitra on April 23. As their relationship developed, she began encouraging him to invest in forex trading, claiming it was a lucrative opportunity that would help him manage his financial burdens. New Scam in Bengaluru?
