Dad of murdered Caroline Crouch says he would ‘blow the head off’ killer son-in-law – World News

The heartbroken father of murdered Brit Caroline Crouch says he would have “blown the head off” her husband if he knew he was the killer.

David Crouch said he believed Babis Anagnostopoulos was being genuine when he seemed consumed by grief – saying he felt “huge sympathy” for him.

Anagnostopoulos, 33, claimed that Caroline, 20, was murdered during a robbery at their home in Alonissos, Greece.

But he later confessed to police that he had killed her in front of their baby daughter after “losing his temper”.

Mr Crouch, 78, told The Daily Mail: “I said at the time that had I known what he had done when he was here, I would have blown his lying head right off his shoulders and gladly taken the consequences.

“I feel exactly the same today and I know that I will feel this way for the rest of my life.”

He said Anagnostopoulos removed the memory card from their internal CCTV at around midnight on May 11 – four hours before Caroline’s death.

He branded it the actions of a “coward”, saying his daughter had a black belt in kickboxing and he would be no match for her when she was awake.

Mr Crouch said: “I imagine that he will have a fine time explaining that to the killers he will be incarcerated with in Korydallos Prison, reputedly the worst jail in Europe.”

Recalling his daughter’s funeral, he said Anagnostopoulo was a “picture of misery” and said he felt “huge sympathy” for him.

He said he got the impression it was a tragedy his son-in-law would never recover from, before branding him a “consummate actor”.

Now he and wife Susan are caring for granddaughter Lydia, who was present when Caroline was killed.

David said his wife had blocked out the tragedy in a bid to raise Lydia – who they are fighting for sole custody of.

Despite the custody battle, David added that they have a good relationship with Anagnostopoulos’s parents, particularly his mother who calls every day.

Earlier this month, it was said Caroline Crouch’s husband smiled “like he was on a cruise” after being arrested for her murder.

Captain Dimitris Anthimos told protothema.gr : “I have not seen a better actor.

“He was smiling, as if he were going on a cruise.”

Anagnostopoulos was taken by boat to Skiathos.

The chilling description comes after reports in the Greek media that Caroline’s mum Susan Dela Cuesta gifted her daughter’s husband £17,000 10 days before her death.

Family lawyer Thanassis Harmanis claims he was also given 2,000 Euros to transport Caroline’s body and 2,200 Euros for a coffin, reports Protothema.

In a statement, Mr Harmanis said: “How much is the truth of the claim of a man who for 37 days forced the authorities to look for 3 robbers who [killed] the mother of his child and their dog?

“The amazing direction, the unparalleled acting talent brought tears to the eyes of people with empathy.”

Anagnostopoulos has since claimed he killed Caroline during an argument after she threatened to leave him.

His lavish lifestyle has also raised suspicion over potential drug involvement, with sources alleging he may have smuggled illegal substances in his helicopter.

The couple had spent £47,000 on land and another £140,000 designing their dream home, as well as enjoying a recent holiday to Dubai.

It is believed Caroline may have been using a coded diary to detail the alleged abusive behaviour of her husband towards her.
