At least 27 were killed in a landslide and storm triggered by Cyclone Remal in Mizoram’s Aizawl. Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the kin of the deceased. CM Lalduhoma has also announced Rs 15 crore for the State Disaster Relief Fund, the Department of Information and Public Relations said. Mizoram has seen the highest toll in the storm among the northeastern states. The state government announced the closure of all schools, banks, financial institutions, public sector undertakings and government offices, except those rendering essential services on Tuesday, because of the inclement weather.
