Cyclone Dana: IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in Odisha As Storm Set To Make Landfall on October 24
New Delhi, October 21: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Odisha in the upcoming week as Cyclone Dana is expected landfall on October 24. Speaking to ANI, IMD scientist Soma Sen Roy said that warnings have been issued for coastal Odisha and Andaman and Nicobar Islands due to the impact of the landfall.
“Heavy rainfall warning issued in A&N Islands for today and tomorrow and in coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Odisha for October 23. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected on October 24 and 25 in the Gangetic West Bengal and coastal Odisha. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya from October 23-25. In Delhi, the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 33-34 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature at 18-20 degrees Celsius,” she said. Earlier in the day, IMD alerted that a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal and North Andaman Sea, is likely to intensify into a depression by October 22 and a cyclonic storm by October 23, moving towards Odisha-West Bengal coasts by October 24.
