A total of 2,11,499 patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking India’s active cases tally to 17,13,413.
This marks the third consecutive day when active cases have been below 20 lakh. It is also the 21st consecutive day when recoveries have outnumbered new infections in the country.
The overall death toll due to the virus has reached 3,37,989 while 2,84,41,986 infections have been reported so far.
21,59,873 samples were tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore on May 4.
