Coimbatore: Man Collapses in Bathroom After Getting Injection for Stomach Pain From Unregistered Doctor, Dies

Coimbatore, September 23: A tragic incident in Senjeri, Sulur Taluk, has left a family in mourning after 21-year-old K Prabhu collapsed in the bathroom after returning from Doss Medical Centre, where he received treatment from a 27-year-old unregistered medical practitioner. On Saturday, September 21, Prabhu, who sought treatment for stomach pain at Doss Medical Centre, was given an injection. However, shortly after returning home, he collapsed in the bathroom and was rushed to a local hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

According to reports from the Times of India, following the tragic event, Prabhu’s mother, Rangal, filed a complaint with the local police, prompting them to register a case of unnatural death under the BNSS Act. The inquiry revealed that the practitioner, Victor Jeeva Rathinam, who administered the injection, had completed his MBBS degree abroad but was not registered to practice medicine in India. Tamil Nadu Shocker: Youth Addicted to Marijuana Dies After Being Gagged With Duct Tape by Staffers at Deaddiction Centre in Coimbatore, Accused Arrested.

After the case came to light, a team of investigators led by NN Rajasekaran from the Joint Director of Health Services conducted an inquiry at the medical centre. As reported by The Hindu, the investigation revealed that Rathinam was using the prescription slip of a registered doctor, who had not been present at the clinic for months. The clinic, which is connected to a pharmacy run by Rathinam’s father, was under scrutiny as it operated without qualified personnel. Tamil Nadu Shocker: Minor Girl Allegedly Dies in Sleep After Suddenly Bleeding From Her Nose in Salem, Case Registered.

The Coimbatore District Police and the Health Department are committed to taking appropriate action based on their findings, which may include filing charges against Rathinam for his unqualified medical practices.
