CM Eknath Shinde announces Rs 3 lakh financial aid for kin of Kiwale hoarding collapse incident

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Tuesday announced an assistance of Rs three lakh for each of the families of the five persons who died after getting crushed under a steel structure of a hoarding that collapsed in Pimpri Chinchwad’s Kiwale area on Monday.

“The chief minister has expressed deep anguish over the death of five persons and has announced assistance of Rs three lakh for their relatives,” said a tweet from on the CMO Maharashtra handle.

Five persons, including four women, were killed and three others were seriously injured after the steel structure of the hoarding collapsed next to a service road on the Katraj Dehu Road Bypass in Kiwale area near Pune on Monday evening.

The incident took place around 5.30 pm on the service road of the Mumbai Bangalore Highway’s bypass. Officials of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation told The Indian Express that the hoarding was illegally constructed.

The police have registered a suo motu FIR of culpable homicide. The owner of the land, the contractor who erected the hoarding, the advertiser and the one who had rented the space have been booked, said the police.
