The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Thursday predicted rain and thundershowers in a few districts of Konkan, madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha for the next 24 hours. Also, Pune and its surrounding regions are expected to have a cloudy sky and experience a slight increase in daytime temperature for the next few days.
A new western disturbance, the IMD said, is responsible for the cloudy skies in the city. Along with this, a trough/wind discontinuity line is running from the central parts of north Madhya Pradesh to the south of Tamil Nadu. “Under its influence, isolated rainfall is likely over a few northern districts of madhya Maharashtra and over Vidarbha on March 30 and 31. Pune district/city is likely to get partly cloudy conditions (during next 48 hours) from time to time…” said a senior scientist at the IMD. The partial incursion of moisture has resulted in an increase in temperature in the region.
The official press statement issued by the IMD predicted the said weather events would result in thunderstorms in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Chandigarh, and east Rajasthan. Parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive heavy rainfall Friday.
Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha may witness hailstorms, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds for the next 24-48 hours. Similarly, northeast India would also see rain and thundershowers in the next 24 hours. Most parts of south India would experience cloudy skies and light rains for the next 48 hours.
Maximum temperatures would remain 2-5 degree Celsius below normal in most parts of the country for the next 24 hours.
