Thunderstorms developed in southeast Texas and dumped “heavy” rain on the region on Sunday, May 16, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS said the storms were producing two to four inches of rainfall per hour, adding that some counties had already seen six inches of rain accumulate.
