Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV Launched in India; Check Tata Curvv Rival’s Price, Features & Specifications

Mumbai, August 11: French automaker Citroen on Friday officially announced the prices for the Basalt Coupe SUV for the Indian market with an introductory starting price tag of INR 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The introductory pricing is valid for all bookings made till October 31, while the deliveries of the Basalt are scheduled to commence from next month onwards. However, the automaker hasn’t revealed the variant-wise pricing of the vehicle. We believe the same will be announced in the coming days.

The Basalt is the fourth product based on Citroen’s C-Cubed program for the Indian market. While near-production model was revealed in March earlier this year, the production-ready guise debuted on August 2. The Basalt will take on the upcoming Tata Currv, scheduled to hit the Indian market on September 2. Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus Onam Editions Launched in India.

On the exterior front, the Citroen Basalt borrows familiar design and styling elements from the concept model, which includes a front grille, headlamp unit, DRLs, coupe roofline, and shark-fin antenna. However, the production model gets slightly smaller 16-inch alloy wheels. The Basalt comes in seven colours – five single-tone and two dual-tone options. It includes – Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Garnet Red, Cosmo Blue, White with black roof and Red with black roof.

On the inside, the Basalt Coupe SUV gets an Aircross C3-inspired cabin, featuring a well-laid dashboard design with dual-tone treatment. It gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument unit, a 15-watt wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and connected car tech. Over 2,500 Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Cars Recalled in India Due to Steering Gearbox Assembly Defect.

The Citroen Basalt comes with a choice of two petrol engines. The former is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated mill making 81 bhp and 115 Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The latter is a 1.2-litre turbo unit generating 108 bhp and 195 Nm of peak torque (210 Nm in automatic version). It will be available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
