Chennai Shocker: ‘Depressed’ Due to Work Pressure, Software Engineer Electrocutes Self in Tamil Nadu; Body Found Wrapped in Wires

Chennai, September 21: A 38-year-old software engineer, Karthikeyan, was found dead in his home in Thazhambur near Chennai Tamil Nadu, on Thursday night after allegedly electrocuting himself due to work-related depression. Karthikeyan, employed at a software firm in Pallavaram for 15 years, had been undergoing treatment for depression at a hospital in Medavakkam for the past two months, police said. He lived with his wife, Jayarani, and their two children, aged 10 and 8.

According to a report in TOI, Jayarani had left for Thirunallaru temple with friends earlier in the week, leaving Karthikeyan alone at home. When she returned Thursday night, she found the door locked from the inside. After receiving no response to her knocks, she used an alternate key and entered, discovering Karthikeyan unconscious with a live power cable wrapped around his body, which had been connected to the main junction box.
