Chennai Shocker: 16-Year-Old Girl Returning From Tuition Abducted and Gang-Raped Near Thalambur, 3 Arrested

Chennai, September 22: A Class XI girl was abducted and gang-raped by three individuals, including two juveniles, near Thalambur on Friday night. The police have arrested all the suspects, including 23-year-old Sundar, who has been remanded in judicial custody. The minors have been sent to a correctional home in Chengalpet.

According to a report in India Today, the survivor, a government school student, usually attended tuition classes after school and returned home around 7:30 PM. On Friday, when she did not return on time, her parents began searching for her. They contacted the tuition center, which confirmed she had left around 7:15 PM. After searching at friends’ homes, the girl returned home around 9 PM with torn clothes and injuries. Police personnel, along with child welfare committee officials, arrived at the hospital for an inquiry. An investigation officer stated, “The incident occurred half a kilometer from her house. The three men took her to a secluded place and raped her repeatedly before escaping. The case has been transferred to the Chitlapakkam all-women police station, where a POCSO case was registered. All three suspects were homeless and unemployed; Sundar previously worked as a ragpicker. The case is now under the jurisdiction of the Selaiyur All Women Police Station (AWPS) for further investigation.
