‘Captain America: Brave New World’: Is Donald Trump Assassination Attempt Reason Behind Isaiah Bradley-President Ross Scene Cut in Marvel India’s New Trailer? (Watch Video)

The first trailer of Captain America: Brave New World dropped on July 12, 2024 and received positive reviews. The movie marks the debut of Harrison Ford in the MCU in the role of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, a character previously played by the late actor William Hurt. Ross, once an army general and later a high-ranking government official who harbours disdain for the Avengers and hatred for the Hulk, receives a major promotion in Captain America: Brave New World. He is now the President of the United States. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Trailer: From Red Hulk to Tiamut, 5 Plot Theories Confirmed in First Promo of Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s Marvel Film!

One of the major twists in the trailer was the scene featuring Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), a former super-soldier introduced in the Disney+ series Falcon and The Winter Soldier, attempting to assassinate President Ross. Bradley tries to shoot Ross, but the President is saved by the bulletproof glass chamber he is in.

In an eerie case of life imitating art, the day after the trailer was released, on 13 July, an assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump, the controversial business tycoon and former US President. Trump is currently running for the presidency again as a Republican candidate for the upcoming November 2024 elections. While addressing a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, a sniper attempted to shoot Trump, but the bullet merely grazed his ear. Eight rounds were fired, resulting in the death of one audience member and the critical injury of two others. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot down by the US Secret Service. ‘I Took a Bullet for Democracy’: Donald Trump in First Campaign Rally Since Assassination Attempt (Watch Video).

The Trump assassination attempt dominated major headlines, leading Marvel fans to wonder how the makers of Captain America: Brave New World would address this in their promotions. Notably, The Boys showrunners had to drop the title of their season 4 finale, “Assassination Run,” and add a disclaimer because a major plotline involved villains wanting to assassinate the President of the United States (though the VP gets killed instead). ‘The Boys’ S4 Finale: Amazon Prime Issues ‘Viewer Discretion’ Warning at Beginning of Episode 8 of Superhero Series Following Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump.

Marvel’s India’s New Edited Upload of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Trailer

In what seems to be a response to the controversy, Marvel India uploaded the first trailer of Captain America: Brave New World with slight changes. They removed the scene where Bradley tries to shoot the President, instead adding more scenes of him attacking the security detail and attempting to escape from the White House.

The earlier version of the trailer, which originally arrived on July 12, cannot be seen on the Marvel India channel on YouTube. However, the main ‘Marvel Entertainment’ platform still retains the original trailer, which you can watch below.
