NEW DELHI: Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Pakistani intruder who was observed crossing the international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, the officials informed on Saturday.
According to a statement from the BSF, the incident occurred on the intervening night of April 4 and 5, when troops detected movement near the IB. Despite repeated warnings, the intruder continued advancing, prompting the BSF to take decisive action, neutralising the threat.
The identity and motive of the individual are currently under investigation. The BSF has confirmed that a strong protest is being lodged with their counterparts across the border. Further details are awaited as authorities continue the probe.
The BSF alerted the police, who then moved the body from the site for a postmortem and to complete other legal procedures.
