A 42-year-old British tourist has been found hanged in a mountain forest in Romania after disappearing for three days, it is reported.
The missing man was found dead in a forest between the mountain towns of Busteni and Poiana Țapului in Prahova, southern Romania, on Monday.
Mountain rescue teams launched a search for the man, who has not been named, after he left for the mountain region three days ago and failed to return.
Teams from the mountain rescue groups Salvamont Busteni and Salvamont Prahova took part in the search operation.
According to the news site Gandul, the Brit did not tell anyone where he was heading and was reported as missing when he failed to answer his phone.
After an hour-long search, Romanian authorities found the tourist in the mountain forest.
On Monday night, Salvamont Busteni posted images on social media with the message: “The man from Britain was found moments ago.”
Condolences were offered to the family.
It is unclear if the local authorities are investigating the 42-year-old man’s death.
The Mirror has contacted the Foreign Office for a statement.
