BJP MPs slam SP MP in Lok Sabha over ‘traitor’ remark against Rana Sanga | India News

NEW DELHI: BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticised the statements made against Rajput king Rana Sanga by an SP MP, stating that the nation will reject any disrespect towards such distinguished warriors. BJP member from Jaipur, Rao Rajendra Singh, echoed similar sentiments in the Lok Sabha, highlighting Rana Sanga as a symbol of courage.
Rana Sanga governed Mewar from 1508 to 1528.
SP’s Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman sparked controversy by labelling Rajput king Rana Sanga as a “traitor” for allegedly “inviting” Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi in the 16th century.
In response, speaking during Zero Hour in the lower house, Prasad emphasised that the legendary Rana Sanga is integral to India’s heritage and remains a source of inspiration for Indians. “I condemn the remarks made against Rana Sanga. Hindustan will not tolerate insult to legendary leaders like Shivaji and Rana Sanga,” Prasad said.
Meanwhile, Rao Rajendra Singh also expressed disapproval of the comments against Rana Sanga and questioned the opposition whether they support such statements about a warrior who sacrificed his life for the country.
