The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday appointed Chittorgarh MP Chandra Prakash Joshi as the new state president, replacing Satish Poonia.
This development comes months ahead of the assembly elections in the state later this year.
BJP national general secretary and state in charge Arun Singh issued the appointment order stating that the party president JP Nadda has appointed Lok Sabha MP CP Joshi as the state president of BJP Rajasthan.
Currently, BJP state vice-president, Joshi (47) had won Lok Sabha elections twice from Chittorgarh in 2014 and 2019.

He was Zila Parishad member from 1994-95 and 1995-96 and up-pradhan from Bhadesar panchayat samiti from 2005-10.
In September 2019, MLA from Amer, Poonia was the first Jat president appointed as the state BJP chief.
A senior BJP leader said a change was expected and four other names including that of Arun Chaturvedi, Bhajan Lal Sharma, Mukesh Dadhich and CP Joshi was making rounds. One name had to be selected out of these four, the leader said.
