JAMMU: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday alleged that BJP had split Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra because it feared the unity of the opposition parties.
Accusing the BJP-led government at the Centre of misusing investigating agencies like CBI and ED to threaten and dismantle the opposition, the PDP chief told newspersons here: тАЬThe тАШjod-todтАЩ (manipulation) of parties is taking place due to the fear of opposition unity. Whatever is happening (in Maharashtra) is a testament to the fact that BJP fears unity of opposition…the fight is not between the opposition and BJP, but between the Opposition and the BJP plus central agencies like NIA, ED and CBI.”
“BJP in the past used to call NCP the most corrupt party, but now it forms government with them. This shows the character of BJP,” she added.
Describing the Maharashtra development as a ‘surgical strike’, Mufti said BJP had тАЬmurdered democracy in the state by its horse-tradingтАЭ. She exuded confidence that the opposition parties will win the fight against BJP. тАЬThe opposition has roughly 63-64% of votes whereas NDA has only 36-37% of votes,тАЭ the PDP chief said.
