Bihar: Minor girl who resisted rape shot dead in Rohtas; one held

A minor girl was shot dead in Siavak Bathan village in Bihar’s Rohtas district on Saturday night, police said.

According to the police, the minor girl was visiting her ailing father, who stays in an outhouse situated a short distance from her home, with her elder sister when they were abducted on the road and taken to a nearby bush by two passersby.

Police said that the two unidentified persons tried to rape the girls but the elder sister somehow freed herself and raised an alarm. However, the criminals allegedly shot the minor girl and fled from the spot by the time villagers reached to help the girl, said police.

Police said that the minor girl died on the way while being taken to a nearby hospital.

“A murder case was registered against the duo on the complaint of the elder sister who identified the accused,” district superintendent of police (SP) Vineet Kumar said, adding that the incident is related to a love affair.

According to the police, the elder sister in her complaint mentioned that the two accused persons used to come to her maternal uncle’s home adjacent to Charpurva village. They tried to molest her and her younger sister before as well, she said.

Meanwhile, one of the accused identified as Rajiv Kumar Yadav alias Lakdiya of Dahiyad village, was arrested while the hunt for the other is ongoing, the SP said.
