A groom from Bihar hired a chopper for ₹20 lakh to use as a palanquin to cover a mere distance of 10 km for his marriage in Patna late on Friday.
Dr Prabhat Kumar, 35, a general physician at College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital, Kolkata, hired a chopper from Ace Air Service, New Delhi, to fulfil the last wish of Ramanand Singh, his father and a farmer, who passed away in July last year, two days after the engagement of his son with Nishi Kumari, 28.

Kumar is a resident of Sumeri Tola in Parsa bazar area of Phulwari subdivision while Nishi Kumari stays in Mitra Mandal colony, Karorichak in the same subdivision.
The distance between their localities is about 10 km.
“My father wanted me to go in a chopper for my wedding and get my wife home in it. Today, I have fulfilled his last wish,” said Kumar.
The chopper landed in an adjoining field near the bride’s house for ‘baraat’ (marriage procession) where both solemnised their marriage.
“I will return home tomorrow with my wife, mother and my father’s portrait, which I carried with me today in the chopper,” Kumar said.
