‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ Review: Critics Praise Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit’s Performances in This ‘Lacklustre’ Diwali Release
Kartik Aaryan’s much-anticipated horror-comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, has hit the theatres on Diwali (November 1). The film, directed by Anees Bazmee, features a star-studded cast, including Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan and Triptii Dimri. While the film has generated significant buzz, critical reception has been mixed. Critics have lauded the performances of the actors, particularly Kartik Aaryan’s comedic timing and the powerful portrayals by Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan. However, some have pointed out certain forced scenes that detract from the overall viewing experience. BB3 also stars Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra and Vijay Raaz. India Today: “To watch Vidya and Madhuri duel in the new Ami Je Tomar song is a treat. Madhuri steps into a genre that is somewhat new to her, and it is a risk that pays off in her favour. Vidya adds dollops of nostalgia and just sheer excitement every time she breaks into a Bengali dialogue or goes heavy with the accent.”
Scroll: “Imagination is largely in short supply in the threequel, which has been written by Prakash Kaushik. Except for a twist about Manjulika’s identity that works well, the film has little that we haven’t seen before in the previous movie. One of the big changes is Rooh Baba’s object of desire. Although Kiara Advani worked just fine in BB2, trending star Triptii Dimri is the one who captures Rooh Baba’s heart this time.

News18: “Although the plot of the movie revolves around betrayal, a fight for the throne, and unexplained flashbacks, the mediocre jokes and predictable jump scares make it a rather dull watch. Besides the untimely comedic attempts, Bazmee tries to push some unwanted romance between Aaryan and Dimri. What could have been just a part of the bigger story feels forced and acts as filler.”
Firstpost: “This time, there are two cherries on the cake. One is Vidya Balan, who sent a shiver down our spine with her bone-chilling performance in part one as the possessed wife. We call her Manjulika. She’s back. The second cherry is Madhuri Dixit, who plays Manjulika too. The rest of the cake has cream, chocolate, candles in the form of Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri (headlining films quicker than Akshay Kumar), and the inimitable trio of Rajpal Yadav, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Sanjay Mishra.”
