Bengaluru, September 25: What happens when a simple flight booking turns into a case of identity fraud? At Kempegowda International Airport, two individuals, Asidul Islam Laskar and Intajur Rahman Laskar, were found in a perplexing situation involving identical Aadhaar cards and boarding passes for the same Air India Express flight to Assam. Airline staff discovered the anomaly when both men presented their documents at the ticket-checking counter, revealing that one had unknowingly been issued a fake Aadhaar card by an agent who had initially booked the flight for the other.

According to a report by the Times of India, the incident unfolded on September 19 when both individuals arrived at the Air India Express ticket-checking counter in Terminal 2. The airline staff were shocked to find that both had boarding passes with the same seat number for the same flight to Assam, as well as identical Aadhaar cards bearing the name Intajur Rahman Laskar. This led to an immediate alert to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who detained both men for questioning. Bengaluru: Airport Enforces 21-Day Quarantine and Testing for International Travellers Amid Mpox Surge.

During the inquiry, it was revealed that Intajur had booked the flight through an agent named Salman but later requested the cancellation of his ticket due to personal commitments. The agent, however, informed him that only a minimal refund of INR 200 would be possible and refused to cancel the ticket. Unbeknownst to Intajur, Salman had issued his boarding pass and a fake Aadhaar card to Asidul, leading to this bizarre mix-up at the airport. IndiGo Flight Emergency Landing: Bengaluru-Bound Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Kolkata Airport Minutes After Take-Off Due to Engine Failure.

Following the investigation, police took Asidul into custody, while Intajur was released after it was determined he had played no role in the fraud. Authorities later apprehended Salman, who confessed to the scheme of issuing a boarding pass to Asidul without cancelling Intajur’s ticket, thus attempting to pocket the fare paid by both individuals. A case has been registered against Salman under Sections 336 (2) for forgery and 340 (2) for using a forged document as genuine, while investigations continue to uncover how the fake Aadhaar card was obtained.
