Bear Dies After Eating Crude Bomb in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat, Forest Officials Launch Investigation

Balaghat, October 27: In a tragic incident in Madhya Pradesh, a sloth bear died after consuming a crude bomb coated with corn flour in Balaghat’s Bijora village, located near the Laugur forest range. The bomb, intended to trap and kill wild boars, exploded in the bear’s mouth, causing severe injuries. Forest range officer Kshatrapal Singh Jadoun stated that the device, placed in fields bordering the forest, had likely been set by villagers who use these explosives to hunt wild boars.

The incident occurred around 2 pm when a patrol team discovered the bear’s carcass with its mouth severely damaged. Following the incident, patrols in the area have been intensified, and an investigation is underway to identify the individuals responsible for planting the explosive. Jadoun said that forest workers are searching for those involved in placing the deadly traps, while the bear’s last rites were performed in accordance with wildlife protocols.
