Bangladesh’s interim government, headed by Muhammad Yunus, has recalled five key envoys, including High Commissioner to India Mustafizur Rahman. The decision, issued by the foreign ministry, also includes the permanent representative to the UN in New York and ambassadors to Australia, Belgium, and Portugal. The move has caused discontent within the country’s foreign service, as some recalled envoys, like Rahman, were career diplomats rather than political appointees. Several of those recalled were also nearing retirement.
