A couple who was on a two-wheeler died in a road accident on the Katraj Kondhwa road in Pune Friday morning, officials said. The police have identified the deceased as Dnyaneshwar Walmik Lavande, 50, and his wife Usha, 45, residents of Baner.
According to the investigators, the couple was proceeding from Baner to a village in Purandar for attending a ritual when they met with the accident around 7.30 am.
They were fatally hit by an unidentified vehicle near the RMD School in Kondhwa Budruk, said an officer.
On receiving information, a team of Pune city police rushed to the spot. The bodies were shifted to the hospital for post-mortem examination. The officials at the Kondhwa police station are in the process of registering a case.
