Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A new update in the Ayushman Portal TMS 2.0 has caused problems for patients and staff in government hospitals. Now there is the mandatory requirement of an OTP to be sent to the attending doctor’s phone for admitting, treating, or discharging the patient.
The treatment of the patient cannot be started until the OTP is entered on the portal. Patients are facing issues in Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MY Hospital) and other big hospitals, as finding the doctor concerned is challenging. “If the doctor is busy in surgery or elsewhere, patients and their families face long delays. This has led to daily arguments at the registration counters, as people expect quick treatment under the Ayushman scheme,” the employees of MY Hospital said.
They added that not only the staff but the doctors too were frustrated with the repeated OTP process and they were neither trained nor informed about this update in advance. “Complaints have been raised with higher authorities, but no action has been taken yet,” the staff said. The OTP system was introduced to prevent misuse of Ayushman funds and maintain proper records. Meanwhile, the problem escalated when the e-health software broke down, especially in MY Hospital.
The authorities have decided to temporarily switch back to the old software, but it hasn’t solved the issues. The MY hospital management has instructed the staff to prioritize patient care despite the registration delays. The software is likely to be fixed soon, but till then both patients and staff continue to face difficulties.
