Austin Butler Remembers Elvis Presley During Golden Globe Acceptance Speech: тАШYou Were An IconтАЩ

Austin Butler is paying his respect to the source of his inspiration.

The actor won his first Golden Globe for Best Actor for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in тАЬElvisтАЭ. He beat out tough competition like Brendan Fraser, nominated for his work in тАЬThe WhaleтАЭ, and Hugh Jackman for his role in тАЬThe SonтАЭ.

During his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude for everyone whoтАЩs helped him achieve the award, including the тАЬvisionaryтАЭ behind the film, Baz Luhrmann and his co-star Tom Hanks.

He also shared his appreciation to PresleyтАЩs living relatives, PresleyтАЩs former wife Priscilla Presley and daughter Lisa Marie Presley, who gave the film their blessing.

He saved his biggest thanks for last, however, as he thanked the King of Rock himself.

The role in the biopic has earned the actor nominations across the board, including a nomination at the Critics Choice Awards.

Other big win of the night include Angela BassettтАЩs Best Supporting Actress win, Ke Huy QuanтАЩs Best Supporting Actor win, and Quinta BrunsonтАЩs Best Actress win.
