Atul Parchure Dies at 57: ‘Billu’ Actor’s Last Insta Post Was a Nostalgic Old Ad Featuring Him and This ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ Actor (Watch Video)

Atul Parchure, a well-known figure among Hindi and Marathi audiences, is no longer with us. The 57-year-old actor passed away on October 14 after battling cancer. Atul began his acting career as a child artist in 1985 in a Marathi film, before making his adult debut in the 1993 Bollywood film Bedardi, which starred Ajay Devgn. It took him another seven years to secure a role in a Hindi film, appearing in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani in 2000, the first production from Shah Rukh Khan’s home banner, though he had appeared in a few serials and also in the music video of Bombay Vikings’ iconic song, “Mona Re“. Atul Parchure, Marathi Actor Known for Roles in ‘Golmaal’, ‘Partner’, ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and More, Dies at 57.

Since 2000, Atul had been prolific in Bollywood, appearing in films such as Style, Jajantaram Mamantaram, Kalyug, Billu Barber, All The Best, Khatta Meetha, among others. He also featured in several popular Marathi films, including Amhi Satpute, Zhakaas, Narbachi Wadi, and Braveheart. His final screen appearance was in the 2024 Marathi movie Alibaba Aani Chalishitale Chor. He is also an accomplished theatre artiste.

The actor was also part of some memorable TV commercials. While browsing through his Instagram posts, we found that his last post was one of these old ads. It was for Chiclets, a once-popular brand of candy-coated chewing gum in India.

This ad, that used to air in the ’90s, also featured another then-rising actor, Akashdeep Saigal, who first gained prominence as one of the male models in Shweta Shetty’s nostalgic hit “Deewane To Deewane Hain“, before achieving breakout success with Ekta Kapoor’s show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Former model and actress Viveka Babajee also appeared in the ad.

In 2023, Atul Parchure revealed in interviews about his battle with cancer. In an interview with ETimes, the actor, who was also part of The Kapil Sharma Show, shared that a cancerous tumour was detected in his liver after he fell ill while on vacation abroad. He had been fighting his illness for months, but tragically, he could not win this battle. Rest in peace, dear Atul Parchure.
