Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced AstraZeneca vaccinations for those over 50 will be brought forward to begin in GP respiratory clinics from May 3.
Mr Morrison said the Pfizer vaccine remains as the prioritised choice for those under 50 and those in phase 1a and 1b, as well as those in residential aged care facilities and disability care.
The changes agreed upon by National Cabinet sees people over the age of 50 outside of phases 1a and 1b being able to access the AstraZeneca vaccine from May 3 at respiratory clinics and May 17 at GPs.
The Pfizer vaccine will be restricted to those under the age of 50 under the new changes.
