According to an official statement, the event will take place at 5 pm at J D Nagarwala Stadium, Police Headquarters in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad. “This new headquarter of Ahmedabad Police will not only make the work of the policemen easier, but will also facilitate better security and law and order in the city,” it said.

The project started in 2018 and was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons. The official statement said that the new office features a state-of-the-art Police Control Room integrated with an advanced communication network. It allows real-time monitoring and quick responses to incidents. Other key features include a facial recognition system, video analytics, data centre, emergency call box, public address system, and the One City App.
Additionally, the office will be equipped with a video wall (multiscreen video screen setup for monitoring), a data center with Wi-Fi throughout the building, three conference rooms, a multipurpose hall, and a rooftop solar system that promotes clean energy.
To support police officers’ health, a gymnasium has been set up on the second floor. The entire building has CCTV cameras, fire safety measures, and centralised air conditioning. A ‘Jan Seva Kendra’ has been created on the ground floor for the public to address their issues. Parking, which was a major problem at the old office, has been resolved with basement parking facilities. The building is also equipped with a generator for uninterrupted power supply.
“As a new initiative, the responsibility of operating the canteen in the Police Commissioner Office has been entrusted to the women of the Sakhi Mandal (Self Help Groups), with the aim of providing employment opportunities for them,” the statement said.
Additionally, a Martyrs’ Memorial and Police Museum have also been set up to honour police officers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The memorial is meant to educate visitors about their bravery and dedication. The newly constructed office, equipped with modern technology, is expected to have a positive impact on the city’s police work and overall security.
