Amazon Prime Video To Show Ads to Subscribers During TV Shows, Movies Starting Next Year To Increase Revenue Amid Rising Competition

Mumbai, October 16: Amazon Prime Video users in India will be shown ‘meaningful advertisement’ starting from next year. These ads will be shown between televisions and movies, which may interrupt the viewing experience. Amazon will include ads on its popular streaming platform in India to fund investments amid the rising competition. With this, the US-based e-commerce giant would increase its investment over a long period.

Amazon Prime Video users would also be able to choose the ad-free option, according to a report by Bloomberg. The users would see ‘meaningful fewer’ ads on TV channels provided by the service. The platform took this measure amid the rising competition after Reliance and Disney had a mega-merger of USD 8.5 billion to capture half of the Indian video streaming market. Reliance Bonus Share Record Date: When Will Mukesh Ambani-Led Company Announce Ex-Date for Its 1:1 Bonus? The Indian streaming market has an estimated 1.4 billion users who get entertainment from Reliance’s JioCineme for less than a penny per day. This poses a threat to the business of Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service. The report said that Amazon invested heavily in India while cutting back on some other markets. The company continued in India because more people signed up for its Amazon Prime Video services compared to other countries. Intel and AMD Launch x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group With Leading Tech Companies To Accelerate Innovation for Developers and Customers.

Mike Hopkins, senior VP of Amazon Prime Video, said India was the key geography. The report said that Amazon had already been running ads in the United States, which would likely touch USD 5 billion in 2024. The same would be applied in India, where the company would run commercials in its streaming services. The report said that the ads shown in Prime Video streaming services would be less than those of rivals, and users could still choose to opt out of them and prefer an ad-free experience.
