‘Amaran’ OTT Release Delayed: Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s Major Mukund Varadarajan Biopic to Now Stream Online in December?

Rajkumar Periasamy’s Tamil film Amaran was released in the theatres on the occasion of Diwali, October 31, 2024. The action-drama starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles is produced by Kamal Haasan under the banner Raaj Kamal Films and Sony Pictures Films India. The film faced a clash with Kavin-starrer Bloody Beggar but performed phenomenally well at the box office. ‘Amaran’ OTT Release Postponed

The majority of recent South films are released on OTT platforms within four weeks of their theatrical release. To give an example, TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles, hit the big screens on October 10 and landed on Prime Video on November 8 despite a good run at the box office. According to the latest reports, Amaran, which was earlier scheduled to release on OTT by the end of November, has now been delayed.

The digital rights of Amaran have reportedly been sold to streaming giant Netflix. According to a recent update, the digital release of Amaran has been delayed by a week so that the makers can capitalise on the growing box office numbers. The film may now arrive on the platform by the end of the first week of December. According to a report in Sacnilk Entertainment, Amaran has surpassed the INR 250 crore mark globally.

About ‘Amaran’

Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi starrer Amaran is a biopic based on the life of Major Mukund Vardarajan, an officer commissioned in the Indian Army’s Rajput Regiment. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra for demonstrating bravery and dedication to the counter-terrorism activities with 44 Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir. The cast of Amaran also includes Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose and Rohman Shawl, among others, in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan has confirmed an upcoming project with his Don director, Cibi Chakravarthy. On the other hand, Sai Pallavi is busy with multiple projects, the most notable being Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological film Ramayana, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol, and Yash.
