It was the alertness of citizens that helped the cops in tracing the father of cricketer Kedar Jadhav within hours after he went missing from his residence in Pune’s Kothrud locality.
According to the police, Kedar’s father Mahadev Sopan Jadhav, 75, left home in the Kothrud area at around 11.45 am on Monday without informing anyone and did not return.
Jadhav then filed a missing complaint at the Alankar Police Station in the afternoon. The missing report with Mahadev’s photo and description was also shared with other police stations in the city.
Extensive search operation was launched. Cops checked videos captured by several CCTV cameras, spoke to auto rickshaw drivers and others persons for getting information about the cricketer’s father.
Meanwhile, the information of Kedar Jadhav’s father going missing went viral on social media.
As per a press release issued by the police on Tuesday, people who saw this information on social media found Jadhav’s father at Ghorpadi Gaon in Mundhwa late on Monday.
A female citizen from Ghorpade Gaon informed the police about Mahadev Jadhav by making a phone call on the Pune city police control room number 112.
Soon, the details were passed on to the Mundhwa police station. Senior police inspector Ajit Lakade dispatched a team comprising policemen Pravin Holkar, Santosh Patmas and Sandip Patil to the spot.
Cops confirmed that the person traced by citizens in Ghorpadi Gaon was father of Kedar Jadhav. Police then informed the cricketer and brought Mahadev to the Mundhwa police station.
Kedar went to the police station and took his father back home. Cricketer thanked the cops for searching his father, as stated in the press release.
