The Department of Community Medicine and Department of Internal Medicine, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), in Pune has launched a community outreach screening programme for cancer and lifestyle diseases at its Rural Health Training Centre in Kasurdi.
Lt General Narendra Kotwal, Director and Commandant, inaugurated the initiative, which is a part of the ongoing primary healthcare activities being conducted at Kasurdi village. Major General D Vivekanand, Dean and Deputy Commandant, AFMC, and panchayat members were present at the inauguration.
The Department of Community Medicine and Department has been running the Rural Health Training Centre in Kasurdi for two decades.
Those present at the event were briefed on activities conducted at Kasurdi such as entomological surveillance, provision of safe and potable water, and anganwadi services. Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal also interacted with school children.
