A man at a US base, that is now under strain due to the arrival of Afghans, has shown a pic of the food he is receiving to show that the life of a refugee is not glamorous

An Afghan refugee has posted photos of the meagre food rations that he is being given at a US base leading to shock on social media at the tough conditions.
Hamed Ahmadi showed a couple of snaps of the food that he said would have to last him for another 12 hours at Fort Bliss, in El Paso, Texas.
The 28-year-old is living in a tent with 70 other refugees after escaping the Taliban in Kabul.
The military base is housing around 4,000 people in total who have escaped Afghanistan with resources stretched and more are still coming.
Space on the ground is limited and food is being rationed.

Hamed said that he “was not complaining” by showing the photos but he also wanted to make it clear that the refugees were not having a cosy time at the camp.
In his Twitter posts he showed a few pieces of chicken, a small amount of fruit, along with small slices bread and cheese which he said would have to last for the coming 12 hours.
“Not complaining but this is what I got last night for dinner and the next meal is 12 hours later,” he wrote.
“Refugee life might be safe but never easy & favorable.”

One person wrote that Hamed had every reason to be unhappy with what he was given.
They wrote: “You are absolutely allowed to complain, this is nothing.
“Refugees still have rights and it’s ridiculous that you are getting fed so little.”
Another put it: “My heart goes out to all the Afghanis who had to leave their country and family.

“It’s never easy leaving your motherland behind. And I am sorry to see this is the food you are getting. I hope it was better.”
After receiving some criticism on social media, Hamed told the Independent that he was only trying to give an account of what is happening and that refugees have to be “patient”.
“The point of that tweet was not … to be complaining, to be very critical,” he said.
“I was just describing a situation of Afghan refugees that are in the situation that they never really wanted to be in. I had a pretty good job back in Kabul. I had a decent life. I had my family.
“I was forced to flee Afghanistan … if I had more space (on Twitter), I would have added more explanation because I wanted to say that this is the refugee life. And we need to be patient.”
