Mumbai, September 21: In a compassionate move, Aaditya Thackeray, a prominent leader of Shiv Sena UBT and former Maharashtra cabinet minister, has ‘adopted’ the nine-year-old rape survivor from Nagpur’s Pardi. The announcement was made by senior Sena UBT leader Kishori Pednekar on Saturday, September 21, following her visit to the survivor’s family.

Pednekar, who was sent by Thackeray, assured the family of comprehensive support, pledging to take care of the survivor and her younger sister from their education to their marriage, the Times of India reported. Nagpur Horror: Man Rapes 9-Year-Old Girl in Maharashtra’s Pardi, Gives INR 20 to Victim’s Younger Sister To Stay Silent; Probe Launched.

This decision comes in the wake of a horrific incident on September 15, where the young girl was assaulted by 56-year-old Ganpat Jalpurkar in her rented room in the presence of her five-year-old sister while their parents were away. Jalpurkar was apprehended late Friday evening after evading capture for nearly five days. Nagpur Shocker: Widowed Woman Pays INR 2 Lakh to Cousins To Murder Mother-in-Law Over Property Dispute, Accused Arrested.

During her visit, Pednekar also met with senior inspector Ranjit Shirshat, demanding the implementation of stringent anti-rape laws, specifically the Shakti Act, and calling for capital punishment for the accused, the report said. She emphasised that Jalpurkar is a habitual offender, necessitating strict legal action to prevent further crimes.
