NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old woman’s body was discovered inside a suitcase in Bengaluru on Thursday, according to police. The deceased was identified as Gauri Khedekar, who hailed from Maharashtra.
Police reported that the victim’s husband, Rakesh Rajendera Khedekar, escaped to Pune following the incident and has been apprehended in relation to the murder. The house owner notified the police control room at approximately 5.30 pm.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sarah Fatima stated that the couple had relocated to Bengaluru the previous month and resided in a flat at Doddakammanahalli village within Hulimayu police station jurisdiction.
“Her body was found dumped in the suitcase. There were stab injuries on her body”, she stated.
“The accused was detained in Pune and is being brought to Bengaluru. The motive behind the murder will be ascertained after he is interrogated,” she further mentioned.
Regarding reports that the accused had informed his wife’s parents about the killing, the officer responded, “the matter is underway investigation and these details needs to be verified.”
Police revealed that the woman held a bachelor’s degree in mass media, whilst her husband was employed with a private firm and worked from home. Police confirmed that forensic experts visited the location and gathered samples, with the investigation continuing.
