JAMMU: A joint team of security forces embarked on a search operation in the forests of Naidgam in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Friday following inputs about the movement of suspected terrorists. Meanwhile, late Thursday, a loud “explosion-like” sound was heard in the remote Thanamandi area of Rajouri district but no damage or loss was reported.
“A massive search was launched by the Army and J&K Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) in the dense forests of Naidgam based on intelligence inputs. Combing was intensified after senior officials from the Army and police reached the spot to monitor the anti-terror operation. Security forces also established checkpoints at several locations to curb suspicious movement,” said an official source.
Meanwhile, around 7.30pm Thursday, a team of local police’s SOG was patrolling in Rajouri’s Thanamandi when an explosion-like sound was heard. “Following this, the area was cordoned off and an investigation was launched into the nature of the blast,” said an official source.
