Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington said he had to overcome тАЬsome pretty horrible stuffтАЭ with respect to his mental health. And this included battling alcoholism.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, the 34-year-old actor shared he initially felt like тАЬthereтАЩs no way out, thatтАЩs just who you are.тАЭ тАЬAnd getting sober is the process of going, тАШNo, I can change,тАЩтАжthe idea that I could make this huge fundamental change in who I was and how I went about my life,тАЭ he was quoted as saying.
Harington previously stayed at the Priv├й-Swiss retreat in Connecticut in May 2019, where he was treated for тАЬmainly alcoholтАЭ. тАЬThings that have happened to me since┬аThrones┬аended, and that were happening during┬аThrones, were of a pretty traumatic nature,тАЭ he added.
The Eternals actor also went through тАЬperiods of real depressionтАЬ, he revealed. тАЬBut I definitely donтАЩt want to be seen as a martyr or special. IтАЩve been through something, itтАЩs my stuff. If it helps someone, thatтАЩs good,тАЭ he added. His condition also took a toll on his marriage with Rose Leslie, he shared.
Harington, who welcomed a baby boy with Leslie in February this year, said the first three months of fatherhood were тАЬkind of a hellтАЭ. тАЬThereтАЩs something about having a child that is the most physically draining thing. My hat goes off to any single parentтАж I donтАЩt know how you do it. Because itтАЩs more exhausting than everything I did on Thrones.тАЭ
