SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir administration will rename government schools after security personnel in 10 districts of Jammu region who lost their lives in line of duty.
A communiqué, issued by the Jammu divisional commissioner’s office, has asked the deputy commissioners of these 10 districts to identify government schools in villages and municipal wards which could be renamed after martyrs from the police, Army and Central Reserve police Force (CRPF).
An official in the divisional commissioner’s office said, “Committees will be constituted at district level to prepare details after verification,” said an official in the divisional commissioner’s office.
“Senior superintendents of police, additional deputy commissioners and panchayat heads, along with representatives from the Army will be a part of the committees that will finalise the list at the district level,” the official added.
Earlier, the government had directed students to write essays on the contribution of freedom fighters and unsung heroes of Jammu and Kashmir for a national level creative writing competition.
