Arya Babbar ‘Defends’ Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Singham 3’ Casting With a Sneaky Dig at His Past With Malaika Arora (Watch Video)
Despite receiving praise for his role as the villain in Singham 3, Arjun Kapoor’s casting initially raised eyebrows, especially as the actor has been going through a rough patch in his career. In the video, he says in Hindi, “Aajkal humare Singham 3 jo hai vo release par hai. Hindustan ka jawab hai to Avengers. Har tareeke se uss film ki taareef ho rahi hai. Lekin ek point hai jis par uss film ko bahut zyaada troll kiya jaa raha hai, aur woh hai is film ke villain ko lekar, which is Arjun Kapoor.” (“Singham 3 is set to release, India’s answer to the Avengers. The film is winning praise from all sides—except for one point that’s drawing heavy trolling: Arjun Kapoor as the villain.”)
Babbar then goes on to defend Kapoor’s casting by drawing an unexpected comparison between the actor and Raavan, the mythological figure who inspired Kapoor’s character, Zubair aka Danger Lanka. Babbar added, “Mujhe lagta hai, it is the most perfect casting of Raavan. Raavan ka character kya tha? Raavan ka character tha jo kisi aur ke pati ki biwi ko cheen ke le aata hai.” (“I believe this is the perfect casting for Raavan. After all, who was Raavan? A character who snatched another man’s wife.”) Babbar left the joke hanging, but those aware of Kapoor’s dating history couldn’t miss the insinuation. It’s just that consent is missing in this context.

For context, Kapoor previously dated Malaika Arora, who was once married to Arbaaz Khan. Recently, however, Kapoor confirmed he is single, with the couple having ended their relationship months ago. He was also linked to Kusha Kapila, who had also ended her marriage to Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia in 2023. It remains to be seen how either Kapoor or Malaika will respond to Babbar’s thinly veiled jibe.
