Stock Market Holidays in October 2024: Know When Stock Market Will Remain Open and Closed for Trading on BSE and NSE

Mumbai, September 30: With less than 24 hours until the new month begins, October 2024 will see banks remain closed for 15 days due to festivals and national events. In addition to banks, the stock market will also stay shut for certain days in October. According to reports, the stock market will stay shut for a total of nine days and is most likely to have 22 trading sessions only.

The first stock market holiday is on October 2, when the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed for trading on account of Gandhi Jayanti. Additionally, the stock market will stay shut for business for eight days; however, these do not include any festivals or national events. List of Stock Market Holidays in October 2024

  • October 2: The stock market will remain closed for business as Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated across the country.
  • Weekend Holidays: The market will be closed on all Saturdays and Sundays of October, including October 5, October 6, October 12, October 13, October 19, October 20, October 26, and October 27. As stated above, the stock market will remain closed for trading for nine days, including Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and all Saturdays and Sundays of the month. However, it will remain open for business on all other days in October 2024. Meanwhile, official data from the National Stock Exchange highlighted that the Indian stock market is now dominated by young investors under 30.
